- What is NIE? NIE is a program that provides current copies of Indian Country Today newspapers for teachers to use as instructional materials within their classroom. Using the newspaper adds dynamic and ever-current content to the curriculum.
- How can I use NIE? The NIE program can be used to complete American Indian-focused lesson plans by adding current events, news and commentary to the instructional content mix. Teachers find NIE helpful in planning projects, starting discussion sessions, and modernizing their content platform.
- How does it work? It's simple! We will make arrangements with teachers or administrators to deliver copies of the newspaper for periods of time that match their specific classroom needs. With the first shipment we'll include a Teacher Kit that has helpful information regarding how to use the newspaper in the classroom as well as information for parents regarding Indian Country Today.
